Mother's Day

Dear Baby,
It is May 10, 2009 and you are almost 26 weeks old (in the womb that is!) and I thought that I would take this moment to share a little chat with you about the wonderful Moms that have already touched your life.
First, you have some really wonderful Great Grandmothers. Both have the same name, but spell it differently, Marion and Marian. These two women have given you the ability to LEARN. Both are in the mid-ninety's and I can only hope that both stay around a bit longer for you to really know their life experiences. Both have learned so much more in their lifetimes than I could ever hope to. My gift to you today is that ability to LEARN all you can from those around you, especially your Great Grandmothers.
Second, you are blessed with two special Grandmas. You will know one as Grandma Barbara and the other as Nona J (short for Jeannette). These two women have given you the ability to LOVE. I can't think of two women in this world who haven't shown more love, compassion, and trust in others. Your Father and I have commented many times that if we could love a little bit more like these two women, we would learn a lot more! My gift to you today is that ability to LOVE all those around you, especially your Grandmothers. With that love, it will help you to learn all you need to know for a wonderful life.
Third on your list, are your Aunts. You have many Aunts, Great Aunts, and even Great Great Aunts. For this message, I am going to only speak of two Aunts, Aunt Sarah and Aunt Jennifer. These two women have an uncanny ability to LAUGH. Neither of them have the most boisterous laugh, but believe me, both laugh a lot! These two women know how to have fun, know how to enjoy the people around them, and know how to share that moment with others. My gift to you today is that ability to LAUGH with those around you, especially your two Aunts. With that laughter, your love will grow, that will help you learn all you need to know for a wonderful life.
You may ask why I am giving you these gifts on Mother's Day, especially because we don't know if you are a boy or a girl! To me, that answer is easy. Your Father and I have shared some laughs, which grew into a great love. That love both helped us learn that all we could ever ask for is someone to share that life with in a way that no one else could. You, my child, are that gift to us. You are what makes me a mother. So my final gift to you today, is LIFE. In a few weeks (hopefully 14 or less!) you will breathe your first breath of life. I promise to you today, Mother's Day, to be the best Mom that I can be. I promise to fill your LIFE with the ability to LAUGH, LOVE, and LEARN. I can only hope it will be as good at the other Mothers that have touched my life.
I love you -
Mom
