Week 25 Growth Photo

Ah yes - another week! My talents continue to increase. I roll both ways, I grab at anything within my reach, and am downing fruits and vegetables like nobody's business. I am also learning that this very bright flash thing that Mom does each week makes me blink. It's bright! One week until I go visit my Grandma Barbara in Escanaba. I overheard some of Mom and Dad's friends say something about "ditching their kid to go on a fun vacation." What is ditching and what is vacation? Oh well. All I know is that Grandparents spoil me, so I'm good!

More Fun Rachel Faces

Yet again, Mommy and Daddy are tardy with their blog updating responsibilities. Do I have to do EVERYTHING around here?

The past few weeks have been very good for me. I'm eating cereal, vegetables, and fruits like a champion...and I especially love eating my cereal in the morning. When you're my age, 12 hours between meals is a long time to wait!

And in addition to becoming just a little bit bigger each day, I'm also learning how to express myself more and more. Most days, I'm just a coo-ing machine. On some days, I prefer other fun sounds (the occasional whine, an unexpected whimper, or the "where did that come from?" alpha-girl scream) just to keep Mommy and Daddy on their toes. But no matter the day, I'm keeping my parents entertained with a variety of random facial expressions and poses.

Here's an instant classic - the "I wasn't born yesterday, you know...do I really look that gullible?" pose:


And here's my "let me brace myself - I can't believe it!" pose...I think this is when Daddy told me the Massachusetts Senate seat held for decades by the Kennedy brothers was soon to be occupied by a Republican, which is apparently big news in that part of the country...either that, or maybe this picture came right after I watched Marquette take down Connecticut (at UConn, in fact) in a thrilling 70-68 nailbiter. Politics, sports, whatever...I'm up on my current events.



And of course, here's my "I can't walk and chew gum at the same time, but you bet your bottom dollar I can hold my foot and look at the camera at the same time" look. Ironically enough, I was only holding one foot in this picture...these days, you'll more commonly find me grabbing both feet at once just before I try shoving my toes in my mouth. Mommy and Daddy don't really like that pose much...I just don't understand why.



So there you have it - a few weeks in the life of a soon-to-be-six-month-old. Stay tuned, because I'm just starting to sit up on my own...oh boy.

The Many Faces of Rachel

I've been a busy girl this week, and I'm getting more comfortable making different faces in front of the camera. So you may be asking what I've been doing in my spare time this week...well, in no particular order, I've:

a) imitated (perfectly) Daddy's infamous "blank stare."
b) learned how to stand without Mommy or Daddy's hands supporting me.
c) sucked my toes (often!) while having my diaper changed.
d) served as Mommy's personal assistant for her riveting games of computerized Hearts (in fact, Daddy thinks I should get a special T-shirt to commemorate my first "shoot the moon" hand).


I'm also starting to roll over more frequently, though I'm still fairly selective about when I show off this particular trick.

Mommy and Daddy can't believe I'm already five months old. Well, I have news for them: they ain't seen nothin' yet!

Week 22 Growth Photo

Yet again, Mommy and Daddy are slacking with their blog updating duties this week...but as you can tell from my facial expression, I'm not stressing about it.

Since I've been a bundle of squirming energy lately, Mommy and Daddy told me to sit still for this week's growth picture...in that case, I thought this was a good time to perfect my "mannequin" look.

Week 21 Growth Photo

A return to normalcy this week - no long trips since last Sunday...just a few trips around the snowy, cold Milwaukee metro area.

Mommy and Daddy told me winter was going to be different from summer. Judging by my cold little fingers and nose, I'm starting to believe them!

This week, I thought I'd go for a psychological edge and wear red. Think warm...think warm...think warm...nope, still cold!
