Thumper

Dear Baby,

You may not realize it, but you're only four months away from meeting a lot of people who are very excited to meet you. It seems like just yesterday that your mom and I got the fantastic news that you'd soon be coming into our world. And we're just as excited today - actually, even more excited - about meeting you than we were five months ago.

In the meantime, your mom and I have had some fun discussions about in utero nicknames for you. She's still more of a fan of "baby" and "it," while I've been trying to think of a fun nickname that fits your current personality.

Last night, while you were busy kicking and twitching in your mom's belly, I realized two things: (a) you already have a tremendous amount of energy, and (b) you really seem to enjoy thumping away in your mom's belly. And as I felt your energetic kicks last night, I got a proud papa grin and said, "that's my little Thumper."

Of course, four months from now, your mom and I will give you a different (and even more special) name. But in the meantime, if you hear the name "Thumper," you'll know your proud papa is thinking of you.

Love,

Dad

Your Dad is CRAZY!

Dear Baby,
I just want you to know how silly your Dad is these days. He learned this past weekend that you can hear because of your newly developed ears (let's just hope you use them for listening when you get older!) So the first thing he does, is turn around to face you, and starts telling you about how dumb George W. Bush is! Not only do you not know who that is, but really, I don't think that you are worrying too much about politics these days! Then last night, he decided that it would be a good time to encourage you to keep kicking me (by the way - we are going to have words about that some day too) because I was watching a TV show that he didn't want to watch. I think your Dad is CRAZY! But don't worry - he does it because he loves you and I am telling you all this because I love him! Hope you are having a good day with the Cherry Coke I fed you earlier!

Baby's First Picture

On March 31, 2009, Martha (Mom) and Paul (Dad) saw their child for the first time with some help from technology and a wonderfully patient ultrasound technician (Karen). We did NOT find out the gender of our little one just yet - but we can find out any time we want with a little call to the Dr.'s office! It was truly amazing to see this little child move around in the womb, an experience neither of us will ever forget. Here is the picture of our Baby!

Dear Baby

Dear Baby,
I woke up this morning, feeling you kick of course, and just thought about how much I couldn't wait to meet you. One reason, it means you would stop kicking my insides. But the more important reason is that I can't wait to share your life with the wonderful Daddy that you have. There are so many stories these days about how parents and children just don't seem to have enough love to share with each other, it is all about themselves. I can tell you that your Daddy is not like that at all. He can't wait (and tells me about it ALL the time) to just be a part of your life. Regardless of what we do as parents in the future. Just know that we love you and always will. There isn't a thing that we won't do for you. Love you BABY!

Pregger pictures

So a friend convinced me to start taking pictures of how big my belly gets throughout the pregnancy. I took one picture about 4 weeks ago and another one today. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I know that I have certainly felt more kicks these days, but really, the baby is getting bigger (and faster) than I realized!
